This piece was inspired by the roots of the Moreton Bay Fig tree located in Santa Barbara California. I used to frequent Santa Barbara growing up to visit my Great Grandparents who immigrated from the Philippines. This massive tree has the craziest root system and I’ve always been in awe of how large they can grow. I love the texture of them and used that as the base for this piece. The matte black and blue symbolized power and energy from within, just like the Moreton Bay Fig.
